As a research nurse, I have been specializing in the care of children with peanut allergies for the past 15 years. At McMaster Children's in Hamilton, I have collaborated with over 200 families, providing guidance and support during their journey of peanut desensitization. Throughout my tenure, I have successfully managed and treated countless cases of anaphylactic reactions resulting from high-risk food challenges for peanut and other allergic foods. I possess a deep understanding of the daily struggles and anxieties associated with living with a food allergy, both for the individual and their family. My objective is to help you develop effective strategies to maintain awareness of your food allergy while minimizing the accompanying anxiety, enabling you to lead a confident and fulfilling life.

I am the mother of three adolescents, each of whom has grappled with childhood anxieties and food allergies. As a family, we have faced academic anxieties, learning challenges, and generalized anxiety. I possess a deep sense of empathy for the struggles that your family may be experiencing, and it would be my pleasure to extend my assistance.

Our anxiety often impairs our ability to think and problem-solve effectively. This is because the parts of the brain responsible for these functions are taken over by the alarm center, which triggers our fight or flight response. However, we can overcome this by learning and practicing a range of skills and techniques that can help us manage our anxiety. These skills can be thought of as tools that we can keep in our "tool box." Together, we can explore what works best for you and add these tools to your box. With practice, these tools will become automatic, and you may find that you no longer need to bring your tool box with you. Below are some examples of various tools we will explore together to determine which ones are most suitable for your needs and incorporate them into your toolbox.
We can build one together or I have tool boxes for sale.
